| The carpet puddles...that make your feet itch if you walk barefoot through them... |
Thankfully, he at least sympathized and said they would replace both doors, suck up the carpet water and do a magic anti-mold thing, sand down the interior of the closet once it's dried out, and rip out door frames and the ceiling and replace just about everything.
Right now, they've poked holes in the ceiling and are draining the ceiling into buckets. It sounds like someone with serious bladder control issues...and makes me have to pee...can't wait 'til I have a bathroom I can use again! (And a place I could invite people to.)
I guess all that remains to be seen are (a) whether they actually fixed the leak that caused all this in the first place, and (b) whether we have any rights to any compensation...Paul has looked up information about small claims court, but there's a clause in our lease that specifically requires we give them 30 days to address any maintenance issues AND relieves them of financial responsibility regarding loss, damage, or inconvenience due to mold...
...anyone else think that's shady?
So we'll see. Right now, I'm just kinda relieved that something is finally getting done...even though I know they'll do a half-hearted job and we'll just have to call them in again for something else in a month or two and then wait the agonizing weeks 'til they feel like getting around to us (that's par for the course). And I'm happy that the weather has been cool enough these last few days that we could open all the windows and let the fresh air in! And now we know to check our leases more carefully...and I can't wait 'til we can move!!!
