Happy Father's Day!

I wanted to do something small but fun for Paul for Father's Day, and I saw variations of this idea years ago (even before Pinterest, *gasp*). Thought it was cute, a "pop" themed gift basket. Even men with fur-babies get gifts on Father's Day, right? (p.s. I think even husbands without pets totally count. :)

They love their daddy. :)

Anyway, back to the simple basket. There is some pop (IBC, of course), popcorn, blow pops, pop tarts, pop rocks, a ring pop, and some party poppers. Breakfast was lemon poppyseed muffins, and for dinner we had popcorn chicken, jalapeño poppers, and Popsicles for dessert.

I also wrote a few (5) little love notes on the back of origami t-shirts (tutorial HERE) and hid them around the house for him to find. 

We even got to chat with my Dad for an hour or so at our place, and we tried calling his dad but couldn't get through.  I went to bed before he did, so I don't know if he got a hold of him or not...

Father's Day

We're not really parents, but sometimes our dog(s) feel like kids!  And since I firmly believe that parenthood is a doctrine, and that all women are mothers of children, it only makes sense that Paul is a father of children.  So while I didn't really go all out, there were a few little surprises for him.  :)

When we're really parents, I'll get him a gift, too.  :)

Charissa, Paul, and our friend Dan and I got to make a few cookies and bring them over to Dad's and chat with the family for a while.  When we got back, I made a late dinner--Black Bean Salsa Pasta, one of our new favorite recipes.  It was a nice, laid back Sunday!
