Clue Night!

Just a few pics of the fun Clue night we hosted on Saturday.  We really just played the game and watched the movie, but it was still a lot of fun to dress up as each of the characters--I love how much everyone invested in looking the part!

Trying to mimick the cover of the game.  :)

Vanessa as Miss Scarlet

Curt as Professor Plum

Laura as Mrs. White

Pete as Mr. Green

Me as Mrs. Peacock

Paul as Colonel Mustard
The only thing I'd do differently would be to have some props--like rope, a candlestick, a wrench, etc.--as additional props for the pictures.  :)  Otherwise we had a pretty chill time, snacking on goodies and just enjoying the Saturday night.  :)

Paul's 28th Birthday Week!

It was more low-key than I'd have liked some days, but here goes anyway.  :)

Saturday (Day 1): A medicine dispenser filled with candy and a little love note to open each day of his birthday week.  The note also included a little clue or note about that day's gift/activity.

Sunday (Day 2): Found these goofy but AWESOME bottle opener sunglasses on sale.  The note said something about how our love was so bright and he was my sunshine, all that jazz.  :)

Monday (Day 3): Balloon Truth-or-Dare for FHE.

Tuesday (Day 4): 28 kisses (with 28 reasons I love him on the back of them) in an envelope.  See below for "instructions."

First, pucker up and put on the brightest red lipstick you can find.

Kiss that paper as many times as you desire.  I liked it when I did 2 kisses per lipstick application, because it gave a more varied color.  I got SO INSPIRED as I was doing this for some awesome Valentines art/project ideas!

On the back of each kiss, write something you love about them!

Cut them out.  And, if you are crazy like me, laminate.  Not only are they sturdier BUT they keep the lipstick from smearing everywhere afterwards...which is always good.
Wednesday (Day 5): Nerf gun fight!  (Note to self, wet shoes on a wet tile floor=NOT a good fighting ground.)

Thursday (Day 6 and actual birthday!): sock bouquet.  Tutorial HERE.  I modified it a little by using army men as vase filler and it was a BIG HIT.  Boys.  :)

My fabulous dinner at Bistro 501.

Paul's duck.

When we came home and I showed him the sock bouquet, he immediately set to building a fort and creating a whole battle scene.  :)

I went to the bathroom, and when I came out this is how I found him.  :)

(I'll have a separate post just about this...it was SO FUN!)
Of course, then we got out the nerf dart guns and cut down each other's forces.  :)
Our awesome friends and old neighbors made Paul birthday cupcakes, so he didn't go without cake after all.  Thanks, Walkers!  And he ate some late-night ramen, so he got his long noodles in, too.  :)
Day 7 and final: We were going to have our family pics taken at a nearby park.  It rained all day.  Had to postpone.  Which was okay because we still will have them done SOMETIME and we got to go to our ward's chili cookoff and get fed for practically free.  But we ate too much, and we were both so tired and sore that we ended up skipping the other thing we were going to do (local improv comedy hour).  BUT, that's okay, too, because we can catch them after the New Year for a lot cheaper in their new location, and now we have money to hit up a corn maze/pumpkin patch sometime after I come home from Utah.  :)  SO.  Not how I planned it, but still an okay night.  What did we do instead?
Cuddling with puppies...even if they are too big to be lap dogs, they don't notice.  :)

Called up Paul's folks...
...worked on our target practice...

...and went to bed before 10.  Well, *I* did, anyway. :) Pretty good end to another birthday week.  I sure do love you, Paul!  Thanks for being a great husband, and happy 28th!

Summer to-do list!

With summer literally on our heels, I couldn't wait to put together our summer to-do list!  I made it a printable 8"x10", and it's pretty generic, so you're welcome to print if out and use it if you want.  :)  If you like the background but want to have your OWN to-do instead, I've also got the background for you--just the stripes, and fancied up with the birdie/cloud word art.  Enjoy!  I'm gonna print mine off and put it in a green or silver 8x10 frame for the mantle...but you could just as easily post it to the fridge.  :)

Rainbows, Hunger Games, and More

So, one of my birthday gifts was tickets to see Hunger Games in IMAX last night.

We had quite the adventure.

First of all, the sky looked like this as we departed:
Which turned into a crazy thunderstorm that was on-and-off all night long.  BUT, because of the rain and the sunshine, we saw a double rainbow!  These pictures do NOT do the colors justice--it was SOOOOO bright.

AND we saw the whole arc...here's the other end!
Here is me, pumped about the Hunger Games experience I was about to have.
Little did we know it would be so difficult.  We bought our tickets online thru Fandango, which never sent us a confirmation email.  And, because we'd paid with PayPal, our card didn't register as having anything on it (even though our bank WAS charged).  So we went all the way to Indy and had no tickets.  We decided we were hungry and wanted to see the movie no matter what, so we broke down and bought two more tickets in NOT-IMAX.  Which turned out to be a blessing, because the shaky cinematography would've probably made us sick in IMAX...and all the people coming out of the theater had guest passes in their hands, which makes me think something happened and they didn't get to enjoy the movie completely.  So maybe it worked out for the best.

ANYWHO, we had over an hour 'til the next available showing, so we went to Macaroni Grill for dinner.  YUM!
And this is us FINALLY getting to see the most-anticipated movie in our household in three years!  (Can you guess what the last movie was?  Hint: May of 2009...a week before our wedding.)
P.S. The movie was as good as the book--no joke!  Of course they had to skip over a few things or change LITTLE things here and there to make it into a movie, but mostly it kept to the book and we loved it enough to talk about it for the entire hour-long ride home.

GoodWill Finds!

I look forward to the first Saturday of the month like it is Christmas morning and I'm five years old. My husband is just as bad. It's on this day that GoodWill, our localest thrift store, has a 50% off sale each month, and Paul and I make a morning date out of it every time--shopping for professional (or not) clothes, then going out to breakfast.  I hate shopping, but I love a bargain.  I hate clothes and hate my body right now, but I love that I can find a zillion things to cover myself--many of which are new, with tags and all--for almost nothing.  Here's my own personal score from this morning:

THREE DRESSES, one of which is new and full and beautiful (that blue piece underneath everything on the bottom).
One pencil skirt--charcoal gray--IN MY SIZE.
Two white dress shirts, a pink-and-brown striped shirt, a casual white/beige patterned tunic top, and a gray sweater.

It would be a steal on ANY day with GoodWill prices, but on the first Saturday of the month?

$20.15

I'm a happy girl.

Paul also managed to find two tennis rackets and a case for them (our apartment complex has tennis courts, and we've been waiting for nice weather and extra money to gather the goods to go play...) for $4.05 total.

And two hardover books for $1.13/piece.

And 4 ties for 90 cents each.

Not to mention pants.

Life is pretty good for us BOTH today!  :)

Bowling with Friends!

For our friend Pete's birthday, we met up with a good group of people to go bowling at the Union. There were an ice cream cake, pizza, and presents, too...but I had the most fun with my multilens camera app! See the pictures for yourself! (You can see/get ALL the pics off my facebook photo albums.)
